Outbound engagement · Sequence Intelligence

A sequence should be an intelligent sales-control system, not a message sender.

Every Quotarider sequence runs through nine intelligence layers and a Guardrail Layer with the authority to send, delay, change, skip, pause, stop or escalate to a human. One person, one communication brain — even across five campaigns. And no sending limit can bypass it.

01The question

Not “when should I send the next message?” but “should this person receive another message at all?

A conventional sequencer

Asks when to send

  • Day 1 → Day 3 → Day 7, regardless of what happened
  • Stops on reply, if you remembered to set it
  • Runs three campaigns to the same person
  • “Please don’t spam” in the terms of service
Quotarider

Asks whether, what, when — and whether automation is still appropriate

  • Nine layers score every step before it exists
  • Any real reply ends automation and hands to a person
  • One communication brain resolves campaign conflicts
  • A safety score can block a sequence — and the limit slider cannot override it
02The nine layers

Click a layer. Each one changes the message.

Timing Intelligence

Best day and hour per recipient — time zone, working hours, role and industry patterns, adaptive send-time optimisation learned from your own replies.

  • Recipient time zone and working hours, never yours
  • Industry and role timing (a hospital procurement lead reads at 08:00; a founder at 22:00)
  • Adaptive send-time optimisation from your own reply history
  • Public-holiday calendars for 34 markets
  • Send windows enforced per sequence and per market
“A message that lands at 03:00 is a message that gets deleted. Timing is the cheapest reply-rate lever there is.”

Deliverability Intelligence

Domain and mailbox health, sending limits, bounce-risk and spam-risk scoring, reputation signals and automatic throttling — Inbox Shield’s 18 checks, running on every step.

  • Domain and mailbox health score per sender
  • Per-mailbox and per-domain caps with automatic throttling
  • Bounce-risk detection before the send; verification on import
  • Spam-risk scoring of the content
  • Reputation signals: complaints, blocklists, placement tests
  • A failed check blocks the send, not the report
“Deliverability is the first funnel. If 40% of sends go to spam, everything downstream is measured on the wrong denominator.”

Personalization Intelligence

Prospect-specific variables, company and role context, previous interactions and dynamic message generation — with a Personalization Depth Score so one-to-one messages never collapse into obvious templates.

  • Variables from contact, account and previous interactions
  • Company Intelligence research feeds the first line
  • Dynamic message generation on your own AI key, drafted for approval
  • Personalization Depth Score (0–5) per message; low scores are flagged before send
  • Conditional blocks by industry, seniority and stage
“A template with a name merged in is still a template. Depth is measured, not assumed.”

Intent & Engagement Detection

Every interaction changes the sequence: opened, clicked, replied, positive, negative, “not now”, out-of-office, unsubscribe, no engagement. The sequence reacts; it never blindly continues.

  • Nine engagement states, each with a defined reaction
  • Positive reply → stop, escalate, draft the record
  • “Not now” → pause and schedule the return
  • Out-of-office → delay to the return date
  • Unsubscribe → suppress everywhere in 0.2 s
  • No engagement → change the approach, then stop
“The sequence should react, not blindly continue.”

Conversation Intelligence

Not Day 1 → Day 3 → Day 7. Quotarider understands the conversation: replied but not interested yet → stop automation, hand to a human; engaged twice but silent → change the approach, not another generic bump.

  • Reply classification in 0.4 s with a confidence and a source
  • Automation ends the moment a human answers
  • Engaged-but-silent contacts get a rewritten step, not a repeat
  • Threads, forwards and colleague replies are recognised
  • Every hand-off to a human is logged with context
““This person replied but isn’t interested yet” is a conversation, not a step number.”

Frequency & Fatigue Control

A Prospect Fatigue Score from touches, spacing, engagement, previous campaigns, channels and negative signals — and a Global Contact Pressure Limit that applies across every sequence and every channel.

  • Prospect Fatigue Score per person, across sequences
  • Global Contact Pressure Limit: when it is reached, nobody can contact them
  • Counts email, LinkedIn, calls and marketing campaigns together
  • Negative signals raise pressure fast; real replies lower it
  • Cannot be bypassed by raising a sending limit
“Even if five sequences target the same person, Quotarider says: don’t contact — this prospect has reached their communication threshold.”

Multi-Sequence Conflict Resolution

A central Contact Intelligence Layer decides which sequence gets priority when the same person is in several: Human conversation › Existing relationship › High-intent action › Active sales sequence › Marketing campaign.

  • One person = one communication brain
  • Priority ladder applied automatically, logged every time
  • Marketing campaigns never interrupt a live sales thread
  • Existing customers are shielded from cold sequences
  • Conflicts surfaced to owners with the decision and the reason
“A normal sequencing tool runs all three. Quotarider runs the one that should.”

Outcome Intelligence

Sequences are optimised for meaningful outcomes, not emails sent: Sent → Delivered → Engaged → Replied → Positive intent → Meeting → Opportunity → Revenue — with recommendations when a sequence converts at one stage and fails at the next.

  • Eight-stage outcome ladder per sequence, step and variant
  • Revenue locked on the paid invoice, not the won deal
  • “High replies, poor meeting conversion” detected and explained
  • Recommendations: change CTA, timing, audience or messaging
  • Adaptive optimisation promotes what produced revenue
“A sequence with a 12% reply rate and no revenue is a curiosity. The ladder tells you where it broke.”

Sequence Governance

Before any sequence runs, a Sequence Safety Score is calculated from audience quality, message quality, personalisation, sending reputation, contact pressure, timing, history and compliance. Healthy runs; elevated slows; risky requires correction; dangerous is blocked — and no sending limit overrides it.

  • Sequence Safety Score → Sequence Risk Score before the first send
  • Healthy · Elevated · Risky · Dangerous, each with an automatic action
  • Corrections are specific: which audience rows, which message, which mailbox
  • Raising the sending limit does not change the score
  • Every block, correction and override request is in the audit log
“Quotarider actively prevents bad outreach from happening.”

The Guardrail Layer

Every layer proposes; the guardrail decides. It has authority over every message in every sequence, and it answers a different question than a sequencer does.

A conventional platform asks “When should I send the next message?” Quotarider asks “Should this person receive another message at all, what should it be, when should it happen, and is automation still appropriate?”
  • Seven verdicts: send, delay, change, skip, pause, stop, escalate to a human
  • Every verdict carries the layer that produced it and a reason
  • Cannot be bypassed by changing a limit
03The Guardrail Layer

Watch one message pass through ten decisions.

Seven scenarios from a real week. The verdict at the end is the only thing the sequencer executes.

04Sequence Governance

Before a sequence runs: a Safety Score. Move the sliders — then try the sending limit.

Deliberately not part of the score. The user shouldn’t be able to bypass the system by increasing the sending limit.

05Frequency & fatigue

One person, every sequence, every channel: a single pressure limit.

Add touches from any campaign and watch the Prospect Fatigue Score cross the Global Contact Pressure Limit. Only a real reply — or time — brings it down.

Outcome Intelligence: this sequence converts replies to meetings at 35% (good) but meetings to opportunities at 64% and opportunities to paid at 33% (below your median). Recommendation: tighten the audience to accounts with the hiring trigger — revenue per send doubles on that segment.

    Questions teams ask

Can a user turn the guardrail off?

No. Admins can tune thresholds within bounds and write readable automation rules; nobody can disable the safety score or the pressure limit, and raising a sending limit does not change either.

    Does this slow outbound down?

It removes the sends that would not have worked: the 03:00 send, the fifth touch, the third campaign to one person. Reply rate per send goes up; total sends usually go down.

    What counts toward contact pressure?

Email, LinkedIn, calls and marketing campaigns across every sequence and every workspace user, plus negative signals. Real replies and time reduce it.

Is this available on the free plan?
